Side effects during and after surgery:
1- Hair Transplant Side Effects During Surgery:
These side effects are more serious. It usually depends on the drugs used in the anesthesia phase or given as prophylaxis during the hair transplant operation. Symptoms may be simple redness, itching, shortness of breath, and may cause serious life-threatening injuries.
Since the side effects that may occur during the surgery are high risk, a detailed anamnesis is important before hair transplantation.
2- Side Effects After Surgery:
a- Acute (short-term) side effects: These are the side effects that occur within the first 24-48 hours after the operation. The most common side effect is bleeding. b- Chronic (long-term) side effects: These are the side effects seen between 2 days and 2 months after the operation. Loss of sensation, redness, and pain in the donor area, especially on the sixth and seventh days after the operation, may occur in the areas where hair is transplanted and harvesting. These side effects are usually treatable. It may be necessary to start antibiotics in the early period for infections seen in the surgical area. We recommend prophylactic antibiotic treatment to our patients during and after hair transplantation to reduce the risk of infection.
The most serious long-term side effects of hair transplantation and the most important one that affects the outcome of the surgery is hair loss due to necrosis. Necrosis, which may occur due to malpractice performed in the surgery or the anatomy of the patient, may cause prolongation of the recovery period, loss of sensation and hair loss in the area where they occur.
